It’s been quite the week.
Monday May 4th was Star Trek day (May the Fourth/Force be with you). Tuesday May 5th was Cinco de Mayo and Educator Appreciation Day (Thank you to ALL of our educators for what you do every day and for what you are doing right now to keep our young people motivated, inspired and feeling cared for!!!). I haven’t checked the calendar yet, so I thought I’d call today Worshipful Wednesday.
What does that mean, you ask? What would you like it to mean? If you can imagine a day where you find ways to worship God, what would that look like for you? Perhaps not worship as we think of Sunday morning gatherings, but worship in terms of coming before God, praising God.
When I think of worship I think of the connectivity between myself and God – those times when I come before God with the intention of being in relationship with God.
What is your definition of worship?
Today, what might it look like for you to spend time discovering ways that you can worship God? Perhaps it is in the garden as you give thanks for God’s Creation and marvel at new life. Perhaps it is in breaking bread with someone you live with as you give thanks for one another and come together before God. Perhaps it is prayer, or reading scripture or singing your praise. Worship can take many forms and can be expressed in many ways.
Scripture teaches us:
Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
On this Worshipful Wednesday I pray that you might take time to worship God in some way that draws you into closer relationship with the One who loves you.
Prayer
God, open my mind and my heart, open my eyes and my ears to worship You today. Let me be ready to meet You again in my worship. Amen.
